Synopsis

While working as full-time caregivers in Bologna, a Filipino couple fights a long-distance battle for justice for their own son, who was forcibly disappeared in the Philippines.

Filipino migrant workers Mercedita (63) and Gene de Jesus (63) are caregivers in Bologna. Outside of their work, they are also dedicated community leaders fighting for the rights and welfare of Filipinos. But life turns the odds on them since their son Gene Roz Jamil “Bazoo” de Jesus (27) who’s an activist working for the indigenous community in the Philippines has been missing for 3 years after the abduction by the state agents. Bazoo becomes one of the thousand victims of enforced disappearance “desaparecidos” in the Philippines. Now, the advocates must seek justice for themselves. Back in Bologna, the couple tries to live a normal life while waiting for the progress of the case. But how can they fully move on? Struggling to balance work and grief, Mercedita turns to poetry, grappling with the haunting question, how can a mother move on when the case stays cold and your child is still gone?
