The end of the Soviet Union marks the beginning of the story. In the far east, in the Siberian city of Omsk, lives Oleg. Amid this volatile time brimming with new opportunities, the freedom-loving adventurer discovers that he will soon become a father. Determined to secure the survival of his young family, he devises a plan to stock up on cheap goods in Moscow’s bustling markets in the West and sell them at a premium back in the East.
Oleg takes out a loan, steals a Sprinter van, and embarks on a daring road trip. Despite constant setbacks and obstacles, he pushes forward. However, fate deals him a cruel hand. On his return to Omsk, he is ambushed and loses everything. Back home, Oleg spirals deeper into a web of debt and deceit. Desperate, he strikes a perilous deal with the notorious Orange Mafia.
Yet, even if he can outsmart them, the Russian winter proves an even fiercer adversary. Bitter, unyielding cold grips the market, and Father Frost delivers the final blow: all of Oleg’s painstakingly acquired oranges are ruined by the freezing temperatures. Defeated, Oleg has no choice but to abandon his dream and pack his things, leaving behind the most precious part of his life—his family.
