Russia, 1996: Poverty and awakening. In the middle of it all: the penniless market trader Oleg. The father-to-be sets off on a road trip to Moscow in a stolen Sprinter to ensure the survival of his young family.
The end of the Soviet Union is the beginning of the story. In the far east, in the Siberian city of Omsk, lives Oleg. In the midst of this volatile time full of new opportunities, the freedom-loving go-getter learns that he will soon become a father. To ensure the survival of his young family, he wants to stock up on cheap food in the lush markets of Moscow in the West and then sell it expensively back in the East. He takes out a loan, steals a Sprinter and sets off on an adventurous road trip. Although obstacles keep getting in his way, he keeps going. But unfortunately, fate is not kind to him. On the way back to Omsk he is attacked and loses everything. There he gets further and further entangled in a debt trap and, above all, in his lies. Finally, he makes a deal with the highly dangerous Orange Mafia. But even if he can fool them, the Russian winter is more cold-blooded than any criminal gang. Merciless temperatures prevail on the market and so Father Frost puts an end to his business: all his hard-won oranges freeze. So, in desperation, Oleg packs his bags, leaving behind what matters most to him: his family.
